| Biography/History | The steamboat Eclipse, a sternwheel packet with a wood hull, was built in California, Pa., in 1878. In all she made 11 trips to Fort Benton between 1878-1887. She was the flagship of a fleet of steamboats in 1881 carrying several thousand Indians from the Yellowstone to agencies in the Dakotas. Last owned by Montana Transportation Co., Capt. Isaac P. Baker, master. She was fatally snagged 15 miles below Sioux City, Iowa, on Sept. 3, 1887. |
