| Biography/History | The home at 815 3rd Avenue S. was built by Mrs. Peter Gustav Forsberg in 1906. Mrs. Forsberg was a widow who had a real estate business, and three children; Ann, Dorothy and Dewy. Mrs. Forsberg died in 1948, and at that time her daughter, Dorothy Banks, returned to Fargo to live with her brother, Dewey in the house. The siblings had a large collection of antiques and unique collectables, and the sibling began to make their house into a museum. In 1974, Dorothy died and Dewey was not able to take on the expense of keeping up the museum, and he sold the house in 1976 to Mary Joan Grove and Mary Ellen Maltry of Grove-Maltry Estate Liquidators. The contents of the museum was sold, and Dewey moved to an apartment at the Grave Inn in downtown Fargo. Dewey died in 1986. The house was purchased in 1977 by Fargo attorney Elizabeth Maxwell to use as her office. In 1981, the property was taken over by the Schneider Law Firm. |
