| Biography/History | The image is likely of Vern Robert's monocoupe airplane named "Go-Fargo-Go". The plane was Fargo's entry in the National Air Derby, held in Spokane, Washington on September 22 to 24, 1927. It was christened on September 9, 1927 at Robert's Field located approximately at 18th Street and 8th Avenue S. in Fargo. Murray Baldwin who was president of the Fargo Aeronautic club, was master of ceremonies. The Fargo City Commission, and the American Legion were in attendance. Miss Legionnaire Harriet Phillips broke a bottle of liquid over the tire of the plane, and stated "Do your best for Fargo". Mechanical problems prevented the airplane from completing in the derby. |
