| Transcription | "Cartwheel-A-Thon. The 2nd annual Cartwheel-A-Thon was held Oct. 7, 1978, at the Fargo-Moorhead YMCA and was a total success! Approximately 60 children participated. The goal of the group was to raise enough money to purchase a padded balance beam. McDonald's furnished orange drink for the participants and two prizes were offered for the two participants who brought in the most pledged money by Oct. 14. The winners were first: Sara Milstead with a total of $155 and second: Shanna Christianson with a total of $116. Sara received a warm-up suit and Shanna a leotard as prizes. Because most of the participants were able to do 100 cartwheels the goal for the padded beam was met." - caption with image published in "Today's YMCA", November 1978, p. 3. |
