| Biography/History | "The Stone Block, next door, was designed by the Hancock Brothers at the same time as the Laing Block [1910]. The Stone Block, at 613-15 First Avenue N., is done in Classical Revival style with yellow brick and a butter joint, decorated with stone trim. Pilasters between the bays have egg and dart molding. The foliated frieze and the elaborately dentilled cornice with paired brackets are metal. This building was the third home of the Charles R. Stone Piano Company. Stone brought music to residents all over the Red River Valley and organized classes in stringed instruments, including piano, in small towns throughout North Dakota, Minnesota, eastern Montana, and Idaho."- Fargo's Heritage, by Norene A. Roberts. 1983, p. 57. |
