| Biography/History | Rosa Kateley was born at St. Charles, Minn. in 1875. She taught in local schools until 1900 when she went to McHenry County, N.D. near Drake to homestead in Spring Grove Township. She proved up her claim in 1905. While homesteading she also taught in local schools. In 1905 she married Carl J. Olstad who homesteaded near her. He was born in 1871 in Norway, coming with his parents to America in 1872. Rosa and Carl farmed and raised their family. Carl died in 1955 and Rosa in 1958. |
