Biography/HistoryEmily Johnson was born in 1882 at Clitherall, Minn., the daughter of Swedish immigrants, Hans and Elna Johnson. She homesteaded in 1907 in Alger Township, Mountrail County, near Stanley, N.D. She proved up her claim in 1908 and also married George Bakke the same year. They lived on his nearby homestead. George died in 1948 and Emily in 1985.
