Biography/HistoryAmbjør Olsdatter Hagen was born in Nore, Numedal, Norway in 1834. She was the daughter of Ole Olsen and Ingrid Knudtsdatter. She moved to Kongsvinger where she met Jacob Rudolphsen Histad, and they had a son Ole in 1860. By 1865, Ambjør and her son had returned to Nore parish where she lived on the Lian farm, herding cattle. In 1885, she emigrated to America and settled on a homestead claim in Sections 13 and 24, Grandfield Township, Eddy County, North Dakota. She lived on this homestead for 20 years, then moved to live with her son, Rev. Ole J. Hagen in Avoca, Minnesota.
