Biography/HistoryAnna Koppergard was born on July 15, 1880 in Numedal, Norway. She came to America in 1907, first settling in Hoople, North Dakota. About a year later she moved to Twin Butte Township, Divide County, where she settled on a homestead claim in Section 30. She married Herman Strand in 1915 and they moved to his homestead near Comertown, Montana. In 1918 they returned to Anna's claim and farmed until Herman died in 1951. She remained on the farm with her two sons until 1979 when she entered the Good Samaritan Center in Crosby, North Dakota. She died on January 10, 1990 at the age of 109. At the time of her death she was the oldest resident of North Dakota.
