Transcription"Almost every year, Grafton has had a day of celebration. Once there was a Grafton Day, today there is a Sugar Beet Festival Day. Small carnivals, such as the one pictured have been brought into town and set up on the side streets. These do not compare with the large carnivals of yester-year which were set up on the east side of town near the courthouse. These carnivals stayed for a week and usually drew large crowds into Grafton. Al. G. Barnes, Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circuses used to stop for a day between Winnipeg and Grand Forks. They used to set up east of the courthouse and sometimes on the vacant lots near the hospital where Wally's Super Fair store now stands. After Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey combined their shows, they have never come any nearer than Grand Forks."- Typed on a sheet of paper placed on the pack of the photograph.
