| Biography/History | Marie Gjellstad was born at Askim, Norway in 1881. In 1883 the family immigrated to America and settled on a farm near Velva, N.D. In 1902 Marie homesteaded in Hendrickson Township, McHenry County, N.D. and proved up her claim in 1909. In 1930 she married Norwegian immigrant Julius Hauge (1886-1972) and they continued to live on family farmland. She died in 1980. |
