"Picture of five people, 2 horses and the homestead house of Mr. & Mrs. A.J. Vrooman (Mr. Alonzo & Mrs. Amber Vrooman). Mr. Alonzo (A.J.) Vrooman was the homesteader. From left to right as they stand: A.J. Vrooman, Effie Byers (Mrs. Will Byers), Will Byer, Edna Vrooman (Mrs. Otto Vrooman), Amber Vrooman (Mrs. A.J. Vrooman). The house is covered with tar paper held in place with narrow wood strips or slats. 1910 at 4 p.m." - Identification in letter by Ruth (Swanson) Hinkley to H. Elaine Lindgren found in research file.

Biography/HistoryAlonzo and Amber Vrooman came from Minneapolis, Minn. to homestead in Hughes Township, Slope County, N.D. ca. 1910. In 1916 they moved to Marmath, N.D. and later they moved back to Minneapolis.
