Daughter Caroline homesteaded in Renville County, N.D. in 1901, and her parents came ca. 1902 and also homesteaded. Caroline later married Emil Pepke and they later lived in Minot, N.D.

| Biography/History | Herman Budke was born to German immigrant parents in New Orleans, Louisiana. The family settled in Illinois. There he married Mary Waphle in 1874 and lived until homesteading in North Dakota in 1901. They raised seven children. She died in 1919 and he in 1927. |
