| Biography/History | Herman Budke was born to German immigrant parents in New Orleans, Louisiana. The family settled in Illinois. There he married Mary Waphle in 1874 and lived until homesteading in North Dakota in 1901. They raised seven children. She died in 1919 and he in 1927. |
