How Army Engineers perform channel cut-off work for flood protection is shown in this aerial view and superimposed improvements of the flood control project at Fargo, N.D. The new channel at the right replaces the wide bend in the river at the left. The Corps of Engineers which has about 90 per cent of the federal responsibility for flood control estimates that flood losses in the U.S. averages more than $7000, 000, 000 a year. The Fargo project is one of many which has as its objective the reduction of this annual figure." - typed on paper included with photograph.
