| Transcription | "North Dakota Press Conference - When President Truman's special train rolled across North Dakota, he called a press conference in the dining car while traveling between Minot and New Rockford. This AP photo shows him pointing, as though he was trying to put across some vital message - but the gesture was apropos of nothing. The photographers had asked him to give them a little action, and the president obliged. The business of the press conference did not begin until the photographers had taken all their pictures, and then it was all off the record. Seated on the table by the president is Charles Ross, his press secretary." - Caption printed with similar image, Fargo Forum and Daily Tribune, May 16, 1950, p. 9. |
