| Biography/History | The Northwest Airlines westbound plane crashed on the grounds of the Moorhead Rod and Gun Club, one and a half miles north of Moorhead, Minn. at 2:00 a.m., October 30, 1941. Fourteen people died in the crash, they were; Emory A. King, of Fargo, president of the Dakota Tractor Company; Ned Wells, Fargo, sales manager of the Dakota Tractor Company; A. F. Simonson, of Grand Forks, N.D.; Helen Ford, of Fargo and Minneapolis; Clarke W. Farup, of Grafton, N.D.; Mrs. J. Packard, of Atlantic City, N.J.; Henry G. Klopp, of Spokane, Wash., president of the White Pine Sash Company; Lynn C. Carr, of Highland Park, Ill., W. A. Metzger, of New York City, sales manager for Royal Typewriter Company; A. H. Brown, of Billings, Mont., chairman of Montana State Republican Central Committee; Fred R. Lowell, of Springfield, Ohio, sales manager for the National Supply Company; R. W. Ramsey, of North Canton, Ohio; co-pilot, Alden Onsgard of Minneapolis; and flight attendant Bernice Blowers of Welcome, Minn. The only survivor was the pilot, Clarence Bates who was thrown from the wreckage. Cause of the accident was determined to be ice buildup on the wings. |
