Biography/HistoryThe sternwheel steamboat was built at Freedom, Pennsylvania, in 1884, for use on the Ohio River. In 1890, it began plying the Missouri River between Pierre, S.D. and Fort Benton, Mont. In July 1892, loaded with 9, 000 bushels of wheat, it struck a snag near Painted Woods north of Bismarck and sank. The cargo and steamboat were a total loss for its owner, the Mandan Roller Mill.
