| Biography/History | On June 10, 1897, the Ringling Brothers Circus was setting up a tent in Wahpeton, N.D. during a thunderstorm. Lightening struck a tent pole, and killed two workers, Charles Smith and Charles Walters. A third man died from his injuries a year later. They were buried in a pauper's cemetery south of town. The monument that marks their grave, is an exact replica of the damage post, rope and chain. |
