| Transcription | "Twelve row wheat - Jasper Haaland of Grandin has a field of Lee wheat whose heads have more kernels per basket than any he has ever seen. He said four and five kernels are common in the field and the other day he found a head with six. The arrows above show the six-kernel cluster and if you look closely you can see a sprout in the row with the top arrow representing a potential seventh kernel. The average for wheat is two or three kernels per basket. Lee is a leaf rust resistant wheat, released this year." - Caption with image in article "Grandin Farmer has Wheat with 6 Kernels a Basket, " Fargo Forum and Daily Tribune, July 22, 1951, p. 14. |
