| Transcription | "Upstream side of the Jamestown dam, across which a road has been built is shown here. In the left foreground is the "glory hole, " or safety valve to handle runoff when the reservoir gets too high for the outlet works to handle. The outlet works is shown in the upper left. An outlet tube 6 3/4 feet in diameter leads from the outlet works under the dam to discharge in the river channel. Inside the outlet tube, a 25-inch pipe has been installed, eventually to be used to take off water for Jamestown.
