| Transcription | "This tangled mass of steel is all that remains of the Milwaukee freight locomotive after the Empire Builder plowed into it at an intersection near Wahpeton. In this wreckage both firemen and engineer were killed. The locomotive was struck just to the left of the top driver. | Biography/History | Railway collision took place at 5:54 p.m. on Jan. 30, 1932, two and a half miles north of Wahpeton at the junction of the Milwaukee Road and Great Northern Railroad lines. A Great Northern train plowed into a Milwaukee Road train killing three railroad workers, Gerald O. Ostrander, Albert M. Tipping and Timothy O'Connor. |
