| Description | Allen Spiker interviewed Theodosia Mehrer on July 14, 1979 at the North Dakota Historical Society of Germans from Russia convention held in Jamestown, N.D. Mrs. Mehrer gives a short biographical background of herself and her grandfather Simon Schulz. She sings two songs that her grandfather taught her in German. One deals with birds and the other is a sad song about soldiers. She calls them street songs since people would sing them when walking down the street. This is followed by her pronouncing various words and speaking various phrases in German as asked by Spiker. Mehrer mentions that she speaks the 'Kashibish' German dialect. |
