| Transcription | "Salvage operations are progressing rapidly at the site of the Fargo Grain Terminal which collapsed early in the morning of June 12, shown as it looked Friday in this Fargo Forum aerial photo. The operations are being conducted by the Morrison Grain Co. of Salina, Kan., to whom the Commodity Stabilization Service sold for $60, 000 what grain remained after the government ceased its salvage work. Clyde O. Whelan, superintendent for the Morrison firm, estimated when its work was begun that at least 100, 000 bushels of grain remained in the pile of broken concrete. Whelan declined Saturday to reveal how much grain had been recovered, but commented that 'we're very happy.'" - caption with image published in The Fargo Forum, August 7, 1955, p. D-8. |
