| Transcription | "The beginning of the end of dust and traffic blockades on Front Street is representing in the ribbon of concrete shown in this picture, extending west from the Red River bridge abutment (in the foreground). By Saturday the initial paved strip, 24 feet wide, had reached beyond the 4th Street intersection, and on Monday morning paving crews were to continue rolling west past the Broadway intersection. At the 1st Street intersection, a small strip of curb side paving was to be poured at the southeast corner Monday, with hope of opening the 1st Avenue South detour route to traffic at that point some time during the week." – caption with image published in The Fargo Forum, August 28, 1955, p.
