| Biography/History | "James L. Symington was born April 11, 1896 to Wm., Jr., and Susannah Symington, who homesteaded five miles southwest of Neche. He has spent his entire life in the Neche area except for the past few years where he is making his home at the Pioneer Rest Home in Bathgate, N. Dak. As a young man, Jim began work at the Neche Bank. July 25, 1926 he married Kathleen Jean Park of Hamilton, N. Dak. at Forest River, N. Dak. Kathleen was a school teacher in Neche. Jim was very active in community affairs, especially sports. Jim started the Symington Insurance Agency which he operated for many years and when he retired he sold it to his son, David. Kathleen passed away June 19, 1974. Jim and Kathleen had four children; Beverly, Owen, David and Beryl." |
