| Biography/History | "9. Private Willmar (William) Olson, Cavalier, son of Mrs. Olson. Entered the service April 12, 1918. Was wounded at Argonne-Muese Sept. 29th, 1918." William "Bill" Olson - father of: Robert Olson, Mayor of Cavalier many years, Richard, Ralph, Gordon, Ethyl, Mabel - written on the back of another photograph of the same man. obit: "William Olson, 84, Cavalier, died Thur. Jan. 17, 1980… Mr. Olson was born April 19, 1895 to Mr. and Mrs. Hans Olson, at Akra. He married Mean Andrews at Cavalier on May 2, 1920. … He grew up in the Cavalier area and served in the U.S. Army in World War I. He worked as a car salesman and operated an ambulance service in Cavalier." |
