| Transcription | "Fort Sill, Okla. Jun. 13 1896." - Stamped part of envelope attached to top of document. "Apache Camp, Fort Sill, Okla. June 13th 1896. My friend, "The White Medicine Man" : - You better come. The Strong Chief gave it to me from his own hand. It made my heart glad to hear it. It made me happy when it told me you still knew me. Geranimo know the White Medicine Man. When he talks about know his heart is cool and not warm with anger. When my chiefs friend was here the Indians work on their houses. Now the houses are pushed away [finished] and the Indians cultivate their farms. They plant corn and sweet potatos, water melons and musk melons, onions and squash and much more. Our cattle are counts by the thousand; our horses are many - about a hundred. We are all happy and feel good. The Strong Chief has been good to us. When the Apaches are good he holds us in his hands with his fingers open - when they get mad and __ he shuts his hand. He can shut his hand very hard when he wants too. He makes the bad Indians always very good. Now he says Apache can have dance on white mans big day [July 4th] Pretty soon he go away. Indians ___ ____ ____ he came back. Indians glad. He see you and tell you about all us Apaches. He tell you many be so about Apache dance. He knows it and goes with it - pushes hand at it and says it is good thing. Makes Indians feel good. Pretty soon you come back. Maybe so catch in bear. When beans are gone Strong Chief and Capt. Scott hunt bear. You go with them. Me too. Heap good time. Strong Chief say may be so you can see him when soon comes. Indians all be glad when they see you. ___ you come again. This is all I shall say. My brother says he will send this by the mail pony.
