| Biography/History | Born in Bayard, Iowa in 1885, Mary Ann Barnes Williams was well known locally and throughout North Dakota. She lived in Washburn, N.D. for most of her life.
She attended Valley City Normal College and graduated in 1906. Williams taught school, married in 1911, and moved to Washburn in 1919. Mrs. Williams along with her husband owned and operated Williams Drug Store until 1955. During her time in Washburn she wrote for the Washburn Leader. Mary Ann Barnes Williams was a historian, painter, researcher, and speaker. She died in 1971. |
