| Description | The corner view of a two story brick building. On the right side there is a main entrance flanked by columns for the "1878 First National Bank 1904." On the second floor there are awnings over the windows, seven are rolled up and one is down. There are also three big signs on the top floor reading, "Northwestern Mortgage Security Co. Farm loans and Lands, " "W.J. Lane First Mortgage Loans, City of Faro Property, " and "R.S. Tyler Co. Farm Loans." The next building over has a "John Deere" sign. The street corner is visible with a telephone pole, and a fire hydrant. On the left side there is a dentist sign and a newspaper vendor stand. Street car rails are on the road. |

| Biography/History | The First National Bank was the first public bank in Fargo, N.D. in March 1878. In 1879, it moved to the corner of Broadway and NP Ave. where it burned down in the 1893 fire. It was rebuilt, as shown in this image, with columns flanking the bank door. A few mortgage and loan companies, such as W.J. Lane, Northwestern Mortgage Co. and R.S. Tyler Co., occupied the second floor. |
