| Biography/History | In 1912 Darby O'Malley, former mayor of Valley City, filed the first petition asking voters to endorse Theodore Roosevelt for president. The petition, containing between 150 and 200 signatures, was sent to the North Dakota Secretary of State to put Roosevelt's name on the ticket for the preferential primary election.
