| Biography/History | Ben Gustafson was born in 1888, he started developing treatments for small grains to control seed borne diseases like smut. In late 1932 they moved to Fargo and changed the name to the Ben Gustafson Seed Grain Machinery Company. By 1945 Ben F. Gustafson is listed in the Fargo directory as having a machinery shop at 401 Front Street in Fargo, N.D. He lived at 301 10th Ave. S. Ben Gustafson & Son Mfg Co. moved to Moorhead, M.N. in 1947-1948, they manufactured machinery used for treating seeds. Ben F. Gustafson died on January 18, 1954 at the age of 65, after being a resident of the Fargo- Moorhead area for 18 years, and leaving behind his family, his wife, only son Wayne, and brother Chester. In 1957 Gustafson moved to St. Louis Park, M.N. and in 1962 moved to Hopkins, M.N. Chester Gustafson is listed as a Fargo-Moorhead resident in 1960 and as working as a purchasing agent for Ben Gustafson Mfg. Ben Gustafson & Son Manufacturing Co. was renamed to Gustafson Inc. In 1998 Bayer CropScience acquired fifty percent of Gustafson LLC, and by 2004 Bayer CropScience acquired 100% of Gustafson LLC. - some information from HTML article "The History of Gustafson." |
