| Biography/History | Survivors of Custer Fight standing with L.F. Crawford, Usher Burdick, and Frank Zahn next to the Standing Rock Monument at Fort Yates, North Dakota. Usher Lloyd Burdick was a U.S. Representative from North Dakota from 1907 to 1911, he was Lieutenant Governor of N.D. from 1909 to 1913, and served as assistant U.S. district attorney for N.D. from 1929 to 1932. He was then elected as a Republican to the 74th Congress and served from 1935 to 1945, and again from 1949-1959. His son Quentin probably donated this photograph but it is unclear. Little Soldier signed the Fort Laramie treaty of 1868 under the Yanktonais band. (according to the Standing Rock Tourism webstie, 6/1/09).
