| Biography/History | Henry Hector came to Fargo in 1878 and started a grocery business. He was burned out in 1882 but did escape the great fire of 1893. He became a member of the Continental Hose Company in 1888 and served as the President of the company in that year. Hector was a member of the city council, representing the Second Ward. Hector lived in the first house built in Fargo until 1931. Hector's brother, Martin, donated the land for Hector Airport in Fargo, N.D. in 1931. Martin Hector, married Carrie Paulson and his brother Henry Hector, married Carrie's sister, Mary Paulson. Martin and Henry were Norwegian immigrants (c. 1864) and Carrie and Mary Paulson were Swedish immigrants (c. 1870). |
