| Biography/History | In May of 1940, Dickinson State Teachers College President Charles E. Scott initiated correspondence concerning the possibility of making arrangements for Dickinson State Teachers College to participate in the Civilian Pilot Training Program through the Civil Aeronautics Administration. This federal program was not an enlisted program but was conducted for the purpose of training pilots for war activity in the military or otherwise. In June 1940, DSTC requested approval from the State Board of Higher Education to participate in the program. The college entered into a contract with the Civil Aeronautics Administration in September 1940 for the fall session and secured successive contracts for each semester until summer 1943 when the program was discontinued.
