| Biography/History | Robert Alexander Thacker and Mary Elizabeth Williams were married in Ontario and they had nine children. They lived in Ontario until July 1882 when they came to Pembina, where they homesteaded three and one-half south and one mile east of Hamilton, later moving to a full quarter section two and one-half miles south and one-half mile east of Hamilton. Mary "May" Thacker was born in the U.S. and Jessie Martha Thacker was born in Hamilton, N.D. these are probably two of the young women in this photograph. Other children included Robert A. Thacker who died at the age of 12 in a swimming accident at the pond at Hamilton, and William Herbert who was born in Canada and died as an infant. |
