"A Lovely Light" is a one-woman play adapted by Dorothy Stickney from poems of Edna St. Vincent Millay. Dorothy Stickney was born in Dickinson, North Dakota on June 21st, 1896, and died in New York City on June 2nd, 1998. Stickney was a successful Broadway actress and she also had success in several television programs. Stickney Hall at Dickinson State Teachers College was named after her parents. Stickney gave this performance when she was on campus to receive an honorary degree. She performed "A Lovely Light" again when she was on campus in 1976 for the dedication of the auditorium which was named in her honor, now called Dorothy Stickney Auditorium.
